In 2001, the R&IT shop facility was a much smaller facility consisting of a two-track engine house, two outside servicing tracks, and a storage track. An SD40-2 idles outside the shop while the shop foreman gives instructions to the crew. The old sand storage and delivery system can be seen in the background.
