Good-Bye

Discussion relating to the club's Free-mo modular layout.

Good-Bye

Postby J.C. Mayer » Sun Mar 20, 2011 1:20 am

I think at this point, the Free-Mo modules have been decided to be scrapped. The club is in the process of deciding whether to strip the Digitraxx system and turtles. They're currently occupying too much space in the room and with the new layout, we will be utilizing all space. Anyone who wants them or has an idea of what to do with them (we've already considered selling, Craig's List, or donating, etc.) reply to this thread...

We may consider re-building modules in the future, if anyone is saddened by this...

I wouldn't mind taking the staging yard modules, but don't see myself coming to Roc anytime soon yet..

I'd suggest offering them to certain folks that have a vested interest in Free-Mo. Paul Pontarelli has his modules, but I doubt he really wants any more modules.

There are other free-mo folks in the region, and perhaps RITMRC can work something out with someone -- take advantage of the Free-Mo list. If you're not on it, talk to Mike Roque who takes care of the Free-Mo website, I believe.

I had hoped the staging yard might be useful, considering the effort put into it, but oh well.

At the meeting last night, the status of these were further discussed and we have a person interested in taking them as is. We're working on getting that worked out; the person has a week to let us know what he's doing. If this falls out, we'll be placing them as is on Craig's List I think, and then if they're not claimed on there, we'll be taking them apart before Imagine RIT.

As of today, the modules have been dismantled and recycled into a dumpster. Some parts were salvaged, and some people claimed straight sections and other parts, but they are gone.

Hopefully in the future, after the new layout is together, the club will look into building new modules. But until then, no modules :( / :)
