The last time I was in Rochester, someone asked me about the wires sticking out by the bulletin board that looked like they could have been another phone line.
When we first got control of A420, there were two phone jacks, one over by where the engine terminal is now (the jack was relocated years ago), and one over by the right edge of the bulletin board.
The club room used to be the yearbook office, which had two phone lines, one "editorial" line, and one strictly for ad sales. We use the old editorial line as our number, the advertising line was disconnected in 1997. That is the "spare" jack over by the bulletin board.
The wires sticking out up near the ceiling? We're not sure. Tom and I noticed that when we both repainted the room from depressing deep blue to white back in the summer of 1998. We both guessed it was a commuication line for a long-disconnected alarm system. We've never found out for sure, but either way, it's probably just best ignored.
