Who really wants to do a solid??

Let's get the grade crossing flashers in Brown Street working again in time for the show.

Can somebody take that on?

The crossing gates have something to do with the software, I'm not sure that anybody besides Dave has an idea on how to do that.

they work on decoder address 5555 so you can run them manually.

It doesn't seem to work if the power to the decoder is less than 20 or something like that.

Just to clarify, I'm not talking about the crossing gates at Central Ave (those are shot and need to be replaced/reinstalled). I'm talking about the overhead flashers at Brown Street and Platt Street. They used to be triggered by the detection circuit in that block.

used to be, yes. overhead flashers at brown street/platt street, yes. work now? no. 5555? no. dead. kaput. unfunctional. does not compute. in short, it needs to be fixed.... if time permits.

so John felt otherwise, so I decided to test it yet again (after a restart of the layout, a fireup of the traincontroller software), the signals work under 5555, but you have to get above speed step 28, to initiate the gates, and below speed step 17 to kill 'em....

sounds like it needs a new decoder, or a reprogramming at the least.

LOL - was that even English? Thanks for looking at it. So your recommendation is new decoder, or just reprogramming the existing one?

It would probably just be easier to reprogram the decoder through the software so that it outputs enough power to trigger the relay switch. It shouldn't take too long for somebody who knows what they're doing to fix it.
